BitSkins Shut Down: What Happened and Where to Trade CS2 Skins Now
BitSkins, one of the oldest skin marketplaces, closed on 30 June 2026. What BitSkins itself said, the timeline, what to do if you still had a balance, and the alternatives.
Updated

BitSkins, one of the oldest CS2 skin marketplaces, has closed. It launched in 2013 and for more than ten years was a place a lot of traders passed through at some point. We've removed it from our lists, and this page explains what happened and where to go instead.
What happened
BitSkins announced the closure itself, on its blog and on X, on 27 May 2026: "After years of trying to make it work, BitSkins will close in June." Its posts in the weeks before were business as usual, with no warning signs, so for most users it came out of nowhere.
The reasons, in BitSkins' own words: tightening legal regulations, unexpected restrictions from authorities and "outrageous VAT impositions", on top of technical trouble with Steam (API limits, network instability) and maintenance costs that kept rising with every Valve update. The platform had become loss-making.
The timeline BitSkins published:
- 27 May 2026: closure announced; the site kept working as normal.
- 29 May 2026: new listings and deposits switched off. Checkout and payouts only.
- 30 June 2026: final closure; the automated systems went offline.
The same evening as the announcement, BitSkins posted that withdrawals were slowing to up to 48 hours because of the rush, and that "all payouts are safe". At the time of writing, bitskins.com no longer works as a marketplace.
If you still had items or balance on BitSkins
BitSkins told users to spend their wallet balance on skins and move every item to their own Steam account before 30 June, and said deposits were non-refundable. If you missed that, contact BitSkins support through its site and list exactly what you're owed: items, balance, and screenshots or transaction history as proof. Keep copies of everything you send.
Where to buy and sell CS2 skins now
It depends on what you want to do:
- Sell to other players for the most money: a P2P marketplace. CSFloat takes 2% when your skin sells, and it's usually the cheapest place to buy as well.
- Sell right away for cash: an instant-sell site. You get paid in minutes, but for less than market price.
- Swap skins: a trade bot. Quick, but every trade costs you some value.
Our trading sites list splits sites into marketplaces, instant sell and trade bots, with the fees for each, so you can compare like with like. Compare the marketplace fees side by side too.
How to spot a marketplace that might go the same way
No site is safe forever, but a few habits keep the risk low:
- Don't keep a balance you don't need. Withdraw after you sell.
- Watch for slower withdrawals. Delays that get longer are often the first sign of trouble.
- Check who runs it. Our reviews list the company and owners where we can find them.

After years of trying to make it work, BitSkins will close in June. Tightening regulations and rising costs have made it impossible to keep going. To everyone who supported us, thank you.

Due to increased transaction volume, some withdrawals are currently being processed slower than usual and may take up to 48 hours to complete. All payouts are safe and will be processed - thank you for your patience!
