CS2 Viewmodel Generator

Move the sliders and watch the weapon move, then copy the console commands. The ranges come from CS2's own command list, and you can start from any pro's viewmodel in our pro settings.

cl_prefer_lefthanded

Your console commands

viewmodel_presetpos 1; viewmodel_fov 60; viewmodel_offset_x 1; viewmodel_offset_y 1; viewmodel_offset_z -1; cl_prefer_lefthanded 0

Open the console (enable it under Settings, Game, Enable Developer Console), paste and press Enter. To keep it, add it to your autoexec with the config generator.

Presets

How to use it

  1. Pick a preset (the CS2 default or a pro) or start from the sliders.
  2. Set viewmodel_fov and the three offsets; the preview updates as you drag.
  3. Choose the preset position (Desktop or Classic) and right or left hand.
  4. Copy the commands into the console, or copy the autoexec version. Copy the share link to post your viewmodel.

CS2 viewmodel commands and their ranges

From the game's own command list (build of 2 October 2026).

CommandRangeDefaultWhat it does
viewmodel_fov60 to 6860How wide the weapon view is. Higher draws the weapon smaller.
viewmodel_offset_x-2 to 2.51Left and right.
viewmodel_offset_y-2 to 21Closer and further forward.
viewmodel_offset_z-2 to 2-1Down and up.
viewmodel_presetpos1 Desktop, 2 Classic1The settings menu's Viewmodel Position.
cl_prefer_lefthanded0 or 10Left-handed weapon.

Many viewmodel tools still offer CS:GO's ranges: viewmodel_fov down to 54, offset_x down to -2.5, and a Couch position. CS2 doesn't accept those: the FOV stops at 60, offset_x at -2, and Valve removed the Couch position on 25 April 2024. Values outside the range are clamped by the game, so a config with them just gives you the limit.

As listed in each player's most recent settings; a preset of 0 or 3 isn't a CS2 position, so the generator uses their offsets with Desktop.

FAQ

What is the best viewmodel in CS2?
There is no best one, but most pros use the same: 12 of the 19 pros in our pro settings data play viewmodel_fov 68 with offsets 2.5, 0 and -1.5. That pushes the weapon to the bottom right and keeps it out of the way.
How do I change my viewmodel in CS2?
Turn on the developer console in Settings, Game, open it with the ~ key and paste the commands from the generator. They apply at once. To keep them across restarts, put them in your autoexec.cfg.
What is the max viewmodel_fov in CS2?
68. The game's own command list gives viewmodel_fov a range of 60 to 68 (default 60). Lower values from CS:GO configs, like 54, are raised to 60.
How do I switch to left hand in CS2?
Set cl_prefer_lefthanded 1, or Preferred Viewmodel Left/Right Handedness in the settings. The Switch Viewmodel Left/Right Hand key (H by default) swaps hands during a match, and the console commands switchhands, switchhandsleft and switchhandsright do the same. CS:GO's cl_righthand doesn't exist in CS2.
Does the viewmodel affect aim?
No. It only changes where your weapon is drawn; spray, recoil and where bullets go are the same. A smaller, lower weapon covers less of the screen, which is why most pros push it away.
