Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal data Betrefs collects and what we do with it. The controller of your data is MattCS, who runs Betrefs from Malta. Contact us about anything in this policy at contact@betrefs.gg.
We keep this short on purpose: we collect as little as we can, and we never sell your data.
What we collect

We don't ask for your real name, address, email or payment details, and we never receive your Steam password: signing in happens on Steam's own website.
Legal bases
- Contract: running your account, the free case and delivering prizes.
- Legitimate interests: keeping Betrefs secure, stopping multi-account and referral abuse, and basic statistics about which listings are used.
- Legal obligation: where the law requires us to keep or share information.
Who we share it with
- Our hosting and database providers, who process data only on our instructions.
- Valve (Steam), when you sign in and when we send you a prize by Steam trade.
- Discord, when you choose to connect your Discord account for the free case.
- Ahrefs, which counts visits for us without cookies or personal data.
- Our team's private Discord channel, which gets your Steam name, profile link and trade URL when you win, so the prize can be sent.
- Authorities, when the law requires it.
Sites we link to don't get your Betrefs data. If you sign up on one, it collects its own data under its own privacy policy. Some of our providers may process data outside the EU; when they do, we rely on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision.
How long we keep it
- Account data: until you ask us to delete your account.
- Free case openings: 2 years, because they are also the provably fair record and our proof of prize delivery.
- Outbound click records: 2 years. Server logs: up to 30 days.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask to access, correct, delete or export your data, and object to or restrict how we use it. Email contact@betrefs.gg from any address and include your Steam profile link; we'll reply within one month. You can also complain to Malta's Information and Data Protection Commissioner (idpc.org.mt).
Cookies
We only use cookies that the site needs to work: signing you in and remembering a referral link. No advertising or tracking cookies; our visit statistics (Ahrefs Web Analytics) don't use cookies either. Details are on our cookie page.
Children
Betrefs is for adults only. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we delete it.
Changes
We'll update this page when anything changes; the date at the top shows the current version.
