Crafting it from scratch
Raw materials, gunpowder already counted in. Explosive ammo and mortar shells craft two at a time, so odd counts round up.

Along the way you craft 2,480 gunpowder and 20 explosives. Workbench needed: level 3.

|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Stone wall / floor / foundation | 24,400 S | 45,600 S | 104,800 S | 1854,625 S | 465,520 S |

How to use it
- Pick a category (building blocks, doors, windows, high walls, deployables) and tap each target you need to break. Tap again to add more.
- Turn explosives on or off to match what you have or can craft. HV rockets and mortar shells are off by default.
- Choose the side you hit walls from. It only changes explosive ammo and HV rockets.
- Read the cheapest mix per piece, the total sulfur and the crafting list. Copy the link to share the raid with your team.

What each explosive costs
Crafted from scratch. Sulfur includes the sulfur in the gunpowder (10 gunpowder = 20 sulfur + 30 charcoal).
| Explosive | Sulfur | Also needs | Workbench |
|---|---|---|---|
| Timed Explosive Charge | 2,200 | 3,000 charcoal, 200 metal fragments, 60 low grade fuel, 5 cloth, 2 tech trash | 3 |
| Rocket | 1,400 | 1,950 charcoal, 100 metal fragments, 30 low grade fuel, 2 metal pipes | 3 |
| Satchel Charge | 480 | 720 charcoal, 80 metal fragments, 10 cloth, 1 rope | 1 |
| Explosive 5.56 Rifle Ammoper item, crafted 2 at a time | 25 | 30 charcoal, 5 metal fragments | 3 |
| Beancan Grenade | 120 | 180 charcoal, 20 metal fragments | 1 |
| High Velocity Rocket | 200 | 300 charcoal, 1 metal pipes | 2 |
| Mortar Shellper item, crafted 2 at a time | 300 | 450 charcoal, 0.5 metal pipes | 2 |

How the calculator works
Every target has a fixed HP and every explosive does a fixed amount of damage to it: a C4 takes 275 HP off a stone wall, a rocket 137.65, a satchel 51.5 and one explosive round 2.704 (fired from a Semi-Automatic Rifle; other rifles are a round or two off on stone and up). The count is the HP divided by the damage, rounded up.
Because we keep the damage, not only the counts, the calculator can mix: 1 C4 leaves a stone wall on 225 HP, which 84 explosive rounds finish for less sulfur than a second C4. It tries every combination of up to two explosive types and keeps the cheapest.
Hard side or soft side. A common mistake is to halve explosive counts for the soft side. In the game data, C4, rockets, satchels, beancans and mortar shells do exactly the same damage from both sides. Only bullet damage is lower on the hard side, so explosive ammo and HV rockets need a few less from the soft side, and doors, windows and high walls have no soft side at all.
Sulfur and gunpowder. The totals count raw sulfur once, including what goes into the gunpowder, and list the gunpowder and explosives you craft on the way separately, so nothing is counted twice.
What it doesn't model: rockets hitting two pieces at once when aimed at a seam, satchels that dud and need relighting, and modded servers that change damage. Plan the route with the base builder, which finds the cheapest way to the tool cupboard.

FAQ
- How much sulfur does it take to raid a stone wall?
- 2 C4 (4,400 sulfur), 4 rockets (5,600), 10 satchels (4,800) or 185 explosive ammo (4,625). The cheapest is 1 C4 + 84 explosive ammo for 4,300 sulfur.
- How many rockets for a sheet metal wall or door?
- A sheet metal wall takes 8 rockets (4 C4). A sheet metal door takes 2 rockets or 1 C4, but 63 explosive ammo is cheaper at 1,575 sulfur.
- How many C4 for an armored wall?
- 8 C4, or 15 rockets. 7 C4 leave the wall on 75 HP, so the cheapest route is 7 C4 + 30 explosive ammo for 16,150 sulfur.
- Is the soft side easier to raid with explosives?
- Barely. C4, rockets, satchels and beancans do the same damage from both sides. Only bullets do more, so explosive ammo needs 173 rounds on the soft side of a stone wall instead of 185. The soft side matters for melee and guns, not for charges.
- How much sulfur is a rocket or a C4?
- A rocket is 1,400 sulfur and a C4 is 2,200, counting the sulfur in the gunpowder. A satchel is 480, a beancan 120 and one explosive 5.56 round 25.
- What is the cheapest way to raid in Rust?
- Break doors, not walls, and finish charges off with explosive ammo. A sheet metal door is 1,575 sulfur of explosive ammo against 4,300 for the stone wall next to it.
