Is CS2 Premier fixed? What's behind the October VAC reports

October 13, 2026 · by MattCS

Since 9 October, CS2 players have been saying Premier feels different: more matches cancelled mid-game, and cheaters complaining they're getting caught. The talk is of a quiet update to VAC Live, Valve's anti-cheat that bans during a match. Valve hasn't confirmed anything. None of its CS2 patch notes since then mention VAC, so everything below is what players and cheaters are reporting, not an official change.

The post that started it, from CS2 news account Ozzny:

What people are reporting

Three things keep coming up:

  • Cheat sellers are warning their customers off Premier. Ozzny's post says cheat providers are "warning users to avoid playing Premier", and shows screenshots from a cheat forum where users say they were caught running wallhacks.
  • Cheat communities are panicking. CS2 creator Sagka posted that some cheating Discord servers were "going into full meltdown mode over a possible VAC update", with members telling each other not to queue.
  • More cancelled matches. When VAC catches someone during a game, the match is stopped. Valve's own release notes from June 2023 describe it: VAC "will now live ban and gracefully terminate the match at the end of the round", and the match doesn't count towards anyone's rank. Players say they're seeing far more of those cancellations since 9 October.

Not everyone is convinced

The same week brought claims of honest players being caught, none of them proven:

  • A player claimed he'd been banned twice and blamed the Scout, his theory being that cheaters use it so much that VAC now flags it. A day later someone tested exactly that on Dust2, bought the Scout every round, finished with a 70% headshot rate and wasn't flagged.
  • CS2 NEWS posted a claimed trick to get legitimate Wingman opponents banned. Nobody has shown it working.

If you think a match of yours was cancelled by mistake, Valve's release notes from August 2024 give an address: email the match details to csgoteamfeedback@valvesoftware.com.

What Valve has actually changed

The last anti-cheat change Valve wrote down was on 29 July 2026: "Fixed a bug that allowed malicious players to avoid being processed by VACnet." VACnet is the system that reviews matches for cheating, so a gap that let some players skip it was closed. Nothing about VAC has been in the notes since, including the eight updates after the Rush Hour update on 22 September.

So is Premier fixed?

Too early to say. The signs point the same way: cheat sellers telling customers to stay away is hard to fake, and cancelled matches mean VAC is catching people mid-game. But there are no numbers, Valve hasn't said a word, and cheat makers usually adapt. Give it a couple of weeks and see whether your Premier games stay cleaner.
