Rust Base Builder

Draw your base from above: foundations, walls, doors, windows, garage doors and the tool cupboard. The builder adds up the build cost and the daily upkeep, and finds the cheapest way a raider gets to your TC. Your design is saved in the link.

How to use it

  1. Pick Foundation (or Triangle) and a tier, then tap squares on the grid. A triangle points its base at the foundation next to it; tap it to turn it.
  2. Pick Wall, Door, Window or Garage and tap the edges of your foundations. Choose the door type above the grid.
  3. Pick Tool cupboard and tap the foundation it stands on.
  4. Set the number of floors and players. Read the raid cost, upkeep and build cost, and copy the link to save or share the base.

How the raid cost is worked out

Every wall, door and window between two spaces has a price: the cheapest sulfur to break it with C4, rockets, satchels, explosive ammo or beancans, from the raid calculator. For a doorway with a door, that's the door or the doorway itself, whichever is cheaper. An open doorway or wall frame costs nothing.

The builder then looks for the cheapest route from outside to the room with the tool cupboard, the same way a route planner finds the shortest drive. The red edges on the grid are the pieces a raider would break.

It keeps things two-dimensional on purpose: it doesn't model raiding through the roof or the foundations, rockets breaking two pieces at once, building stability or soft-side walls facing out. Use it to compare designs, not as a promise that a base holds.

What the cost and upkeep include

Build cost is every piece placed as twig and upgraded to its tier, the doors, window bars and garage doors, and 1,000 wood for the tool cupboard. Upkeep uses Rust's brackets (10% of the cost for the first 15 building blocks up to 33.3% past 190) plus the group tax from the September 2026 update; the upkeep calculator explains both and shows how long your TC lasts.

FAQ

How much does a 2x2 stone base cost in Rust?
Our starter 2x2 (4 stone foundations, 9 walls, 3 doorways with sheet metal doors, a stone floor on top and a TC) costs 5,130 stone, 1,855 wood and 450 metal fragments to build, and 578 stone plus 51 metal fragments a day in upkeep.
How much sulfur does it take to raid a 2x2?
For the starter 2x2 the cheapest way to the TC is straight through one stone wall: 1 C4 + 84 explosive ammo, 4,300 sulfur. Going through the three sheet metal doors would cost more, so the doors don't protect the TC here.
Do more doors make a base harder to raid?
Only if there's no cheaper way around them. Raiders take the cheapest path to the loot, so every extra door is wasted if the wall next to it costs less to break. The builder shows which path that is.
How do I save or share a base design?
The whole layout is stored in the page link. Copy it with the button under the grid and send it to your team: opening the link loads the same base.
Does the base builder count floors and roofs?
Yes. Set the number of floors and every wall and door is built on each floor, with a floor (or the roof) on top of each one. Upkeep and build cost include them. The raid path only looks at the ground floor.
