How to use it
- Pick the direction: the amount you want to receive, or the price the buyer pays.
- Enter the amount in US dollars and pick the game (or enter another game's fee).
- Enter how many items you're selling if it's more than one: fees are charged per item.
- Read the buyer price, both fees and what you receive. Copy the URL to share it.
How Steam works out the fees
Fees are worked out from the seller's price and added on top. This is the rule in Steam's own market code:
Steam fee = max($0.01, round down(seller price x 5%)) Game fee = max($0.01, round down(seller price x 10%)) Buyer pays = seller price + Steam fee + Game fee
Going the other way, from a buyer price, Steam starts at buyer price / 1.15, tries the cents around it and keeps the highest seller price whose total doesn't go over. Simply dividing by 1.15 and rounding can be a cent off, and can show buyer prices Steam never produces. A game whose publisher sets no fee gets no 1 cent minimum either.

Steam vs. skin marketplaces
Steam keeps about 13% of the buyer's price and pays in Steam Wallet funds, which Steam's FAQ says can't be withdrawn. A Steam Wallet also holds at most $2,000, and one listing can be at most about $1,800. Peer-to-peer CS2 marketplaces charge sellers less and pay out in cash:
| Marketplace | Seller fee |
|---|---|
| Steam Market | 13.04% of the buyer's price |
| YouPin898 | 1% |
| BUFF163 | 1.5% |
| CSFloat | 2% |
| DMarket | 2% |
| HaloSkins | 3% |
| Market.CSGO | 5% |
| ShadowPay | 5% |
| White.market | 5% |
| CS.MONEY Market | 5% |
| Waxpeer | 6% |
| SkinBaron | 15% |

FAQ
- How much does Steam take when you sell?
- For CS2, Dota 2, TF2 and Rust: a 5% Steam fee plus a 10% game fee, both added on top of what you receive, each at least $0.01. To receive $10.00, the buyer pays $11.50, so fees are 13.04% of the buyer's price.
- Is the Steam Market fee 15% or 13%?
- Both, measured differently. The fees are 15% of what the seller receives (5% + 10%), which is about 13% of what the buyer pays. On cheap items the 1 cent minimums push it much higher: a $0.03 sale leaves the seller $0.01.
- Who pays the Steam Market fee, buyer or seller?
- Steam's FAQ says the buyer pays the Steam Transaction Fee, and the game fee is added the same way. In practice the seller feels it too: buyers compare the total price, so you receive about 87% of the price shown on the market.
- What is the minimum price on the Steam Market?
- $0.03 for the buyer in USD: the seller gets $0.01, plus the $0.01 minimum Steam fee and $0.01 minimum game fee. Steam's FAQ says some currencies have their own minimum sale price.
- Why can't I list an item at exactly $1.14?
- Steam rounds each fee down to the cent, so some buyer prices can't come out of any seller price. $0.99 for the seller gives $1.12, and $1.00 gives $1.15, so nothing lands on $1.14. The calculator shows the nearest real price.
- Do all games have a 10% game fee?
- No. The game fee is set and collected by each game's publisher, so it can differ from game to game. Valve's FAQ lists 10% for Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2 and TF2, and Steam's own listings show 10% for Rust. For other games, pick Other game and enter the fee shown on the item's sell screen.
