How to use it
- Set the number of mines (1 to 24).
- Set how many safe tiles (gems) you plan to open before cashing out.
- Pick the site's house edge: 1% for Stake and Shuffle, or type your own.
- Read the win chance, the multiplier and what your bet pays. The table shows every number of picks; tap a row to select it. Copy the URL to share it.
The formula
A board has 25 tiles. With m mines, your first pick is safe with chance (25 - m) / 25, the second (24 - m) / 24, and so on. Multiply them for the chance that all k picks are safe:
win chance = C(25 - m, k) / C(25, k)
fair multiplier = 1 / win chance
site multiplier = (1 - house edge) / win chance
This is a hypergeometric probability: picks without putting tiles back. The fair multiplier pays back exactly what you stake on average; the site's multiplier keeps its house edge. At 1% that is 0.99 / win chance, so a round returns 99% on average whatever you choose, and the expected loss is bet x 1%.
Sites round the multiplier they show to two decimals, so a shown number can be 0.01 off ours. The table below keeps two decimals too.

Mines predictors don't work
Bots, apps and Discord servers that claim to predict mines can't. On a provably fair site the board for each round is fixed by a secret server seed, your client seed and a nonce. You only ever see the hash of the server seed, and it is revealed when you rotate to a new one, after the rounds it decided. Nothing outside the site can know where the mines are before that.
What they can do is take things from you: many ask you to log in through them, paste your seeds, install something or pay for a "premium signal". Don't. Past boards also say nothing about the next one, so a pattern is never there to find.
You can check a finished board yourself with our provably fair verifier.
What other mines calculators get wrong
- Multiplier tables with wrong values, or rounded differently from tool to tool, so the same setting shows two different payouts.
- Only one site's edge, when mines games keep anything from 0% to 4% depending on the site.
- No expected loss: whatever you pick, a round costs bet x house edge on average.
Sources: house edges as stated on Stake's, Shuffle's, Winna's and Roobet's mines pages (October 2026). The probabilities are arithmetic.

FAQ
- How are Stake mines multipliers calculated?
- Multiplier = 0.99 / win chance, where the win chance is the probability that all your picks are safe and 0.99 reflects Stake's 1% house edge. With 3 mines and 5 picks the win chance is 22/25 x 21/24 x 20/23 x 19/22 x 18/21 = 49.57%, so the multiplier is 0.99 / 0.4957 = 2.00x.
- What is the best number of mines to play?
- None is better on average: every mines and picks setting keeps the same house edge, 1% on Stake. Fewer mines and fewer picks win more often for less; more mines and more picks win rarely for more. Choose by how much variance you want, not to beat the game.
- Do mines predictors work?
- No. Each board is set from the server seed, client seed and nonce before you click, and the server seed stays secret (only its hash is shown) until you change seeds. A tool outside the site has no way to see where the mines are. Predictors that ask for a login, seed or payment are scams that take your account or money.
- What are the odds of hitting a mine on the first click?
- Mines divided by 25. With 3 mines that's 12%, with 1 mine 4%, with 24 mines 96%. Each later click is riskier, since the mines stay while safe tiles are used up.
- Is there a pattern to where mines are?
- No. The positions come from a hash of the seeds, which is as good as random, and every board is independent. You can check any past board on our provably fair page once the server seed is revealed.
