The limbo formula

win chance = (1 - house edge) / target
Stake result = max(1, floor(0.99 / float x 100) / 100)

Stake draws one float between 0 and 1 from your server seed, client seed and nonce, and the result is 0.99 divided by it. The chance that the result is at least x is therefore 0.99 / x. Targets go from 1.01x to 1,000,000x.

Every setting keeps the same house edge, so no target or win chance is "better" on average. Over many bets you lose about bet x house edge per bet: 1 for every 100 wagered at 1%. Lower win chances only make the swings bigger.

FAQ

What are the odds of hitting 2x in limbo?
49.5% at a 1% house edge: win chance = 0.99 / target. 10x hits 9.9% of the time, 100x 0.99% and 1,000x 0.099%.
How does Stake calculate the limbo result?
From one random number between 0 and 1 made from your seeds: result = 0.99 / number, rounded down to two decimals and never below 1.00x. Stake publishes this on its provably fair pages.
What's the highest limbo multiplier?
On Stake you can target from 1.01x to 1,000,000x. A 1,000,000x target wins 1 time in about 1,010,101.
Is limbo the same as crash?
The odds are the same: the chance of reaching a multiplier is (1 - edge) / multiplier in both. Limbo shows the result at once; crash shows it climbing, and you choose when to cash out.
